Graphic artists are commonly seen on the Internet. Mostly they use different software to make art such as portraits, flyers, brochures, and many more. It might be seen as easy since it was done using a computer or laptop but that is not always the case. Some graphic artists go to school to learn the fundamental and basic things in editing and some started doing it as a hobby and/or self-taught.
Many say that being a graphic artist is different from traditional artists since many believe that digital art is not real art since it was produced technologically. But contrary to what anyone says, graphic artists are just as good and important as traditional artists.

Because of this, many software and applications from different companies have surfaced that cater to what a Graphic Designer needs, from editing a picture’s saturation and lighting, up to completely manipulation of the picture making it amazing to see.
Different Editing Software and Applications
Adobe Softwares
There are different software’s that are under Adobe Inc. but these 3 that are listed below are most commonly used by graphic designers.
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Photoshop is known and most commonly used in correcting exposure and color balance, crop and straightening the photograph, altering the colors and removing blemishes in the photograph, and even combining multiple images as one. It is for pixel-based images and designs.
Adobe Illustrator
Another software from Adobe Inc. is Illustrator. Here, it focuses more on a vector-based design and drawing program. You can make posters, symbols, logos, and even a portrait of yourself.
Adobe IndesignÂ
Lastly is Indesign. Indesign mainly focuses on print production and digital publishing. Commonly used in designing a newspaper and magazine. It is used to combine texts, pictures, and other designs in the pages to look more connected with each other.
Autodesk Sketchbook
Autodesk is considered a painting and drawing app. You can make a self-portrait and vector art here just like in Adobe Illustrator but in a freeway since this can be downloaded on the phone using Google Play Store. Here, you can just draw and sketch to express yourself and your ideas.
PicsArt
PicsArt is a more flexible editing tool since it allows users to edit pictures and clips of videos in their app. Just like in Autodesk Sketchbook, PicsArt was commonly used as a drawing application where you can work in layers. However, editing pictures such as creative photography and self-portrait can also be done here.
Corel Draw
Corel Draw focuses more on creating brochures, newsletters, and business cards. You can use Corel Draw in magazine designing, newspaper designing, book designing, illustration, and creating logos.
Canva
Canva is considered a graphic design platform, but some things cannot be accessible when not in a Pro account. It does not limit the users in working on a certain field since it can cater to different things. This can be an application or even a website you can visit.
It caters to the following things:
- Creating brochures;
- Posters;
- Flyers;
- Logos;
- Social Media posts (Instagram Post, Instagram Story, Facebook Status, Facebook Profile, Facebook Cover Photo, Youtube Thumbnail, Youtube Picture, etc); and
- Access to edit different files using A4 size layout
You can also access different and many choices of templates, pictures, and stickers. You can also make your file move or animate with simple transitions. The file you edited then can be exported as .png, .jpg, .mp4, and .pdf.
Digital art and graphic artists can be for anyone, and the software or applications you are using should not be the reason for letting people bring you and your work down. People should have a right to choose what application or software to use that can be easy for them and can be downloaded to the device they are using. For example, people that are using Adobe Photoshop should not feel that they are at the top just because of the software they are using. Let others enjoy the things they want to enjoy, everyone has room for improvement.
